Shirley Camp retired from University of Illinois Extension in August 2010 after nearly 40 years of employment.
She holds a Masters’ of Science Degree in Extension Education from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Home Economics Education from Western Illinois University. In 1992 Ms. Camp completed a preprofessional practice program (AP4) at the University of New Mexico and became a Registered Dietitian.
During her work with Extension, Shirley assisted with various research projects, served various leadership capacities on the Nutrition and Wellness Team and in professional associations, and received several awards for her achievements.
Most recently she worked with a committee in the development of four new foods projects for the 4-H program.
Currently, in addition to her position with the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Camp is serving as a consultant with Mrs. Wages, a division of Precision Foods. Her areas of interest include food safety, food preservation, diabetes, quilting, and knitting.
